Undergraduate Admission Requirements
Requirements for first-year and transfer students applying to our undergraduate programs
Academic Prerequisites
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Completion of college preparatory curriculum including:
- 4 years of English
- 3-4 years of Mathematics (including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry)
- 3 years of Science (including at least 2 lab sciences)
- 3 years of Social Studies
- 2 years of the same foreign language
- 1 year of arts/electives
- Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (competitive applicants typically have a 3.5 or higher)
Standardized Test Requirements
Rhodes Island Academy has a test-optional policy. Students may choose to submit standardized test scores if they believe they strengthen their application.

Additional Requirements
- Personal statement or essay
- Two letters of recommendation (preferably from academic teachers)

- Interview (recommended but not required)
Transfer Students
- Minimum college GPA of 2.8 (competitive applicants typically have a 3.2 or higher)
- Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
- Good academic and disciplinary standing at previous institution(s)
- Completion of at least 24 transferable credit hours (students with fewer credits will be evaluated on both high school and college performance)
